Termite Inspection in Carlsbad, CA
Whether you've seen signs of termite activity or simply want to know your home is clear, a professional inspection is the only way to find out for certain. Termites are skilled at staying hidden, and surface-level checks routinely miss established infestations that a trained inspector would catch in the attic, sub-area, or inside wall framing.
Kilter Termite and Pest Control offers free termite inspections. Our team serves Carlsbad regularly, and our licensed inspectors bring the specific knowledge that a coastal environment requires.
Inspection vs. Treatment: What You're Committing To
When you call for an inspection, you're committing to information, not to a treatment. Kilter Termite and Pest Control's free termite inspection gives you a complete, documented picture of your home's condition. From there, you decide what to do.
Our state-certified inspector will explain every finding clearly, including what species appear to be involved, how active the infestation looks, which areas are affected, and what treatment options are available at what cost. There is no pressure, and you will never be handed an invoice for the inspection itself.
If nothing is found, you leave with a clean report and peace of mind. If activity is present, you have a road map for handling it on your terms.
Reading the Signs: When Should You Schedule an Inspection?
In our experience inspecting termite-infested homes and businesses, the most common reasons we’re called to a property are:
- Termite frass: These tiny pellets are produced by drywood termites and are one of the clearest signs of activity inside structural wood.
- Mud tubes: Subterranean termites build pencil-width mud tubes from soil to wood sources. They're most commonly spotted on foundation walls.
- Wings near light sources: Reproductive termites shed wings after establishing a new colony. Finding shed wings typically means a colony is established somewhere in or adjacent to the structure.
- Wood that sounds hollow when tapped: A reliable method homeowners use themselves. Our inspectors use moisture meters and probing tools to confirm what hollow sounds suggest.
- Real estate transaction requirements: California practice commonly requires a WDO (Wood Destroying Organism) report during escrow, and buyers often request inspection as a contingency.
Any of these signals is enough reason to call. Kilter Termite and Pest Control can typically schedule same-day or next-day inspections.
What the Inspector Is Looking For
A proper termite inspection is more than a quick exterior walk-around. Our licensed inspectors check accessible areas where termite activity, damaged wood, and related conditions are most likely to show up. That can include:
- Exterior perimeter areas
- Visible foundation lines
- Wood-to-soil contact points
- Crawl spaces or sub-areas, when accessible
- Attics and roof framing, when accessible
- Interior door and window frames
- Walls, ceilings, and other visible structural areas
- Garages and attached structural spaces
Every inspection results in a written report with findings clearly organized by area. Photos are included where activity or damage is present.
What You Receive After the Inspection
Kilter Termite and Pest Control provides a detailed, written inspection report documenting the visible findings. The report includes:
- Is there active termite activity or not
- What type of termite is involved
- Which areas of the property are affected
- How extensive does the problem appear to be
- What treatment options fit what was found
- Whether repair work may also be needed

You have a couple of options. Pest Shield™ begins on a Quarterly service schedule with free, unlimited re-treatments. During the months we are not scheduled to treat your home, call for free re-treatments. Turn your quarterly schedule into a monthly schedule. The only catch is that you must call and schedule the re-treatments. If you want us to schedule monthly, then you’d need to sign up for our Monthly service plan, which is $69/month.
